We are a unique bean-to-boutique artisanal chocolate brand. Our chocolate is a call to the senses and the awakening of the emotions, in successive suggestions that are combined in a moment of relaxation and pleasure. We are committed to the quality of cocoa, ensuring the vertical integration of the entire chocolate transformation process, from the plantation to our stores.

Artisanal chocolate

From Porto to the world, the artisanal chocolate of Chocolataria Equador surprises with its variety of flavors and textures, in combinations that range from the most classic to the most exotic, through others more purist designed for those looking for the original cocoa flavor.

Our chocolate bars are handcrafted and packaged. In each of them we put all our experience and dedication. The combinations are varied and amazing. With different percentages of cocoa and various varieties, each combination is surprising to the eye and taste.

Our Tree to Bar chocolate is made with cocoa that grows on our plantation in São Tomé & Príncipe. All the steps of this process are carried out with the utmost care so that the chocolate retains all its aromatic richness and the main characteristics of this variety.

Return to origin

The Chocolataria Equador is a portuguese chocolate company, founded in 2008, with strong connections to the african islands of São Tomé & Príncipe and which prides itself on being an alternative to the massive cocoa bean marketing chain.

The chocolate shop is born from the brand's desire to return to its origins. That is why cocoa is harvested on the african plantation and the rest of the process takes place in our workshop, located in the city of Porto, in Portugal. The mission of Chocolataria Equador is to restore the international prestige of cocoa from the islands of São Tomé & Príncipe and give it a degree of excellence.

Quality of cocoa

We work respecting communities and valuing cocoa producers, because we believe that this is the only way to obtain products with the highest quality and ethics: applying best practices from the time of harvest to planting, until the chocolate reaches your palate.

We are committed to the quality of cocoa and the recovery of the varieties that the portuguese originally brought to Europe in 1850. Our main cocoa variety is amelonado, with a rich and complex profile and marked aromas of pure chocolate without additives. The final product retains its original characteristics, as we only add cocoa butter, unrefined cane sugar and Madagascar vanilla.

Elaboration process

The path that we have been tracing in the work of chocolate reflects a change in paradigm and positioning with respect to fine chocolate, where we seek to create a strong connection with the origin with which we work, creating a unique and authentic aromatic profile for each chocolate made from these cocoa beans. Thus we ensure our own flavor profile that we find in this bean-to-boutique chocolate (from the bean to the store).
